Topics:
1.00pm – 2.00pm The modern tax department operating model and the path to AI:
Tax departments today face growing pressure to manage complexity, improve speed and accuracy, and deliver greater insight with constrained resources. In this session, we will assess the current state of tax department operating models and discuss how modernizing people, processes, data, and technology creates the foundation to responsibly deploy AI. We will highlight practical, economically feasible paths to AI within the tax function and share real‑world approaches to achieving sustainable, scalable adoption.
2.00pm – 3.00pm Zero-day close: Advancing toward a fully "closed-loop provision"
A streamlined look at how tax departments can establish a true closed‑loop provision process by integrating tax engines with financial systems, connecting data through APIs, and redesigning workflows to eliminate manual breaks in the cycle. The session will show how these process improvements create continuous data flow between provision, compliance, and the financial close, with AI playing a supporting role in data preparation and issue detection—resulting in a faster, more accurate, and fully connected close.
3.00pm – 3.15pm Break
3.15pm – 4.15pm Employment taxes – Multi state tax compliance for the modern workforce
In the current business environment with hybrid work and business travelers continually on the move, this is a topic with resonance for anyone with multi state employees and travelers. We will cover the state and local withholding tax considerations for the mobile workforce, withholding tax considerations related to trailing compensation payments, state unemployment insurance tax reporting and employer compliance and audit considerations.
4.15pm Happy Hour
