President's Note, May 2021

Hello everyone! We are excited to share some of TEI's recent news, activities, and initiatives with our members.

First, on behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Pilar Mata has been appointed as TEI’s new Executive Director. Pilar has served as TEI’s Director of Operations over the past six months. As Chair of the Board, I was privileged to serve on a Task Force dedicated to the Executive Director search, along with Senior Vice President Mitch Trager and a diverse group of TEI leaders and Members. It was gratifying that not only was very strong support expressed for our careful, deliberate process, but that Pilar received overwhelming support from the Officers, Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Task Force Members alike.

Registration is open for two upcoming virtual events. Our new Federal Tax Fundamentals Series will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the month of June, and our new Financial Reporting Series will be offered June 9-10. TEI has redesigned each of these events for success on a virtual platform and is offering team discounts. I encourage you to review their programs and share them with your colleagues!

We appreciate those who completed our recent Member Travel Survey, which sought your input on how you would like to engage with TEI for the remainder of 2021. We are taking your feedback into account as the prospect of in-person meetings becomes a possibility.

Thank you to all the companies participating in TEI's Corporate Tax Department Survey. Last completed in 2012, this year's survey will provide comparison and trend data, and assess new and evolving areas important to corporate tax departments, such as technology and remote work alternatives.

We look forward to connecting with you in 2021!

Jim Kennedy, TEI International President
