TEI Engages with Canada Revenue Agency and Department of Finance Regarding Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy

On April 17, 2020, members of TEI’s Canadian Income Tax and Canadian Commodity Tax Committees participated in a joint conference call with representatives of the Canada Revenue Agency (“CRA”) and Department of Finance (“Finance”) to discuss a range of questions concerning the newly enacted Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (“CEWS”). A copy of those questions is available for download via the link below.  The purpose of this informal exchange was to inform the government’s ongoing assessment, development, and administration of the CEWS program through the provision of timely, real-world feedback from TEI members. In a number of areas, CRA and Finance representatives indicated that they would take our members’ questions into consideration as they develop further guidance.

TEI continues to engage with the CRA and Finance on issues relating to the CEWS program and its implementation. If you would like to learn more about this engagement, please contact any member of TEI’s Canadian Income Tax Committee or Canadian Commodity Tax Committee, as appropriate.
