Competition Overview
Learn about the competition goals, format, and participating universities.

Goals & Purpose

  • Purpose: Inspire student interest in taxation through real-world case analysis
  • Format: Teams of four students will analyze and present solutions to an international tax case before a panel of judges
  • Network: Opportunities to connect with students and mentors from around the world
  • Prize: CAD $2,000 awarded by IFA Canada to the top team for Best Overall Presentation and Team Effort

Team Composition & Mentorship

  • One team of four students per university
  • Each team will be paired with two TEI-assigned mentors
  • Team Acceptances & Assignment of Mentors: Week of May 18
  • Welcome & Orientation Call: May 21
  • Team meetings with mentors will take place May - August 2026

  • Thursday, August 13, 2026 (4–7pm): Foosball event at Andersen Tax  
    • Location: 1001 Blvd De Maisonneuve Ouest, Montreal Quebec H3A 3C8
  • Friday, August 14, 2026 (7:30–12pm): AI Tech & Tax Seminar hosted by IFA Canada
    • Location: HEC Montreal; 3000 Chemin de la Cote-Sainte-Catherine, Montreal QC H3T 2A7
  • Friday, August 14, 2026 (2:20–4pm): Walking/Running Club Ice Cream Social hosted by BDO. 
    • Location: Meet at 2:20 PM in front of Campus1; 420 Sherbrooke St W, Montreal, QC H3A 1B2. We will be departing promptly at 2:30 PM.
      • Running Tour: Approximately 5 km / 3.11 miles (roundtrip) down Saint-Laurent Boulevard (Mural and Street Art Tour) and conclude back at Campus1.
      • Walking Tour: Approximately 6.5 km / 4 miles (one way) at a pace of 6:30 per kilometer (roughly a 10:30 min/mile pace) through Mount Royal Park to Blueboy. Walk back approximately 2.3km / 1.5mi down Saint-Laurent Boulevard (Mural and Street Art Tour) and conclude back at Campus1.
      • Uber Option: 
      • If you don’t plan to join the walk or run tour but would still like to join us for ice cream, feel free to meet us directly at Le Blueboy Ice Cream (150 Mont-Royal Est, Montreal, QC H2T 1P9). You’re welcome to get there on your own by Uber or Taxi — join us there between 3:05-3:30 PM.
