On September 26, 2013 KPMG hosted a presentation at the Four Seasons Hotel which explored the emerging tax issues that tax practitioners face from both local and global perspectives. Topics included P3 financing structures, an update on US tax, recent cases and a panel discussion on tax transparency. The afternoon session was followed by cocktails and dinner at Yew Restaurant.

Dentons Canada LLP sponsored a lunch presentation on October 23, 2013.  Joel Nitikman shared his perspective on how best to avoid and resolve tax disputes.  The lunch was held at the Terminal City Club.

On November 7 Deloitte hosted an afternoon of discussion and debate on the latest tax policies and practices. This was held at the Terminal City Club and was followed by cocktails and dinner with a keynote address by the Honourable Pierre Pettigrew, former Minister of International Trade.

On November 20 the Chapter held its annual liaison event with members of the CRA. The afternoon session consisted of presentations by the CRA and a summary of current cases by Blakes lawyer Ed Kroft, and was followed by cocktails and dinner at the Terminal City Club.

Rosemary Anderson, Terry Barnett and Kimberly Cook of Thorsteinssons presented a session on BC PST (Software, Changes Since April 1, 2013 and Some Hidden Surprises), GST (Input Tax Credits) and Customs. This was a lunch meeting held at the Terminal City Club on January 29, 2014.

A lunch at the Terminal City Club was held on February 19. Lee Morlock, a Chicago-based partner in Mayer Brown LLP, presented "Funding US Operations". This session addressed issues and planning strategies for non-US companies looking to fund US operations and included a discussion on the new intergovernmental agreement between Canada and the US with respect to FATCA.

On March 13 E&Y hosted a panel discussion of transfer pricing and cross-border taxation issues arising from the OECD reports, the UN and the Canadian government.  The session was held at the Four Seasons hotel and was followed by cocktails.

On April 9 PWC hosted a meeting titled "The Only Constant is Change". This was an afternoon/evening event with discussions of current news, thoughts and ideas. The session was held at the Four Seasons Arbutus Room, and was followed by dinner in the Seasons Room.

An afternoon seminar was presented by Blakes at the Terminal City Club on May 12 and was followed by cocktails and dinner.  Topics covered included Provincial GAAR, Settlements in transfer pricing disputes, Current cases and assessing positions and Treaty abuse.

The Chapter AGM was held on Thursday, June 12 and consisted of cocktails, the AGM and then dinner at the Shangri-La Hotel.  Bob McDonald was presented with a plaque thanking him for his generous support of the Vancouver Chapter over the years.  Bob attended as a special guest along with his wife, Heather.
