Our 2014/2015 program is now underway. A description of upcoming sessions is provided below. Presentation materials from previous years' sessions can be found under the "Chapter Documents" tab to the left (viewable by members only). On September 18, 2014 KPMG hosted a session at the Four Seasons Hotel. Topics included managing the risk of tax whistle blowing, current developments in tax disputes & enforcement, and the latest in tax technology. This was followed by dinner at Hawksworth Restaurant.
On October 29 Gowlings presented "Transfer Pricing, Competent Authority and Dispute Resolution" - what you need to know about BEPS and Transfer Pricing. This was a lunch held at the Terminal City Club.
Deloitte presented a session on November 6. This was an afternoon of discussion and debate on the transformation of tax policies, practices and perspectives impacting our current tax landscape. The session was held at the Pan Pacific Hotel and was followed by cocktails and dinner.
On December 3 the Chapter held its annual liaison event with members of the CRA. This consisted of an afternoon session with presentations by the CRA and Ed Kroft of Blakes, followed by cocktails and dinner.
On January 28, 2015 BLG presented "We don't have that in Canada - Applying Canadian Tax Law to Foreign Corporate Law" and "Interest Deductibility Potpourri". This was a lunch meeting at the Terminal City Club.
On February 19 DuCharme, McMillen & Associates pressented "CRA GST/HST audit issues and trends" and "Property Tax Update". This was a lunch meeting at the Terminal City Club.
On April 8 Ernst & Young hosted an afternoon session followed by cocktails at the Four Seasons Hotel. The session addressed challenges arising from recent tax developments including PST, managing the tax function, unilateral actions under BEPS and corporate and social responsibility.
On April 30 PwC presented an overview of current news, thoughts and ideas called "The Only Constant is Change: 2015". The general session included an Economic Update and the Top 20 in 20. Breakout sessions were offered after the general session. The event took place at the Pan Pacific Vancouver and was followed by dinner.
On May 21 Blakes will host a seminar at the Fairmont Pacific Rim followed by dinner. The seminar topics are "Intra-Group Financing and Refinancing" and "The Importance of Evidence: Proof of Facts in Tax Disputes".
