We are a leader in providing quality payment solutions to financial organizations and innovative media solutions to influence consumers wherever they shop.  We are a privately held company with revenues of over $3 billion and assets of over $4 billion.  Our VP of Taxation leads the tax planning, research and compliance effort for all of our domestic and foreign members, including Harland Clarke, Valassis, Scantron, and RetailMeNot segments.  The VP of Taxation leads a team of 10 tax professionals and coordinates tax planning with tax colleagues at MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated (“MacAndrews”), the Company’s sole shareholder.  The VP of Taxation is responsible for implementing tax efficiency programs to accomplish group goals with significant group-wide financial impact.  The VP of Taxation sets the Company's tax policy and acts as the authorized representative of the company before state and foreign taxing authorities. 

Key Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Lead tax planning, research and compliance effort for domestic and foreign members of the group for the purpose of minimizing taxes with integrity.
  • Evaluate the tax implications of business activities, structures, and commercial transactions, including the identification and evaluation of alternatives and recommendation of solutions to the Company’s senior management.
  • Coordinates tax planning with tax colleagues at MacAndrews.
  • Lead the coordination of tax due diligence on acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Direct the implementation of changes in tax legislation as it impacts the tax operations.
  • Assume a leadership role in the management of the worldwide consolidated income tax provision process, including documentation related to ASC 740 and other applicable regulations, to ensure accurate recording and reporting of tax related information for quarterly and annual financial filings for the Company.
  • Manage relationships with tax agencies and act as authorized representative before all relevant taxing authorities.
  • Advise management on the sales, use and other tax aspects of commercial activities upon request.
Education & Knowledge Required:

Certified Public Accountant with over 10 - 15 years of tax experience (and 8 or more in a management position in a corporate tax department) with a concentration in corporate taxation and international transactions.  MS in Tax or JD preferred.

  • Strong leadership skills with an excellent track record of being creative, forward thinking, adaptable and resourceful.  At the same time, a practical and results oriented team player.
  • Ability to work effectively with local management, international colleagues and others to identify, define and evaluate strategic tax issues.
  • Requires extreme accuracy and alertness in planning and implementing programs to accomplish group goals with significant corporate-wide impact.  Requires extensive interpretation of information, high levels of judgment and creativity to determine corporate courses of action.
Supervisory Responsibility:

Oversee the income tax department, VP of Sales Tax and outside tax advisors on an as needed basis. 


VP of Tax interacts with senior members of the Company’s legal, finance and operations team.  VP of Tax also coordinates with the tax colleagues at MacAndrews. 

Decision Making:

Requires extensive interpretation of information, high levels of judgment and creativity to determine corporate courses of action. 


Must be self-motivated, possess strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and possess a commercial and process improvement orientation toward the application of tax principles.  Superior personal computer skills with sound knowledge of Excel and Word in a Windows environment.
