Job Summary

Tax Mgmt.: This position will lead the global tax function at NetApp reporting to the VP of Tax & Treasury. The person will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the tax department including global tax planning, direct and indirect tax compliance, global tax controversy, tax operations and tax accounting. They will be responsible to lead a team of dedicated tax professionals, develop and implement systems to compile information for various federal, state, and local reports and tax account entries, ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, assess the tax implications surrounding pending mergers and acquisitions, recommends ways to minimize corporate tax complying with tax laws and regulations and to develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Job Requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, especially executive presence and presentation skills. Experience reporting to C-Level executives and Boards and Audit Committees. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills are required. Demonstrated experience working with outside services providers, including the Big 4 and major law firms. Prior experience with developing budgets and controlling costs.

Management and Interaction: This position is responsible for directing and controlling activities that directly impact the business and our engagement with customers. Accordingly, the person must be capable of navigating the dynamic nature of global tax reform in the light of BEPS and U.S. Tax Reform into strategies and operational plans that will have a significant operational and financial impact on the company. This individual will use in-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations and case law to solve abstract issues and assess intangible variables, and establish long-range plans. Accordingly, the individual must have broad experience with U.S. federal and state tax laws, international tax principles, indirect taxes (sales & use, VAT and GST), and GAAP rules around accounting for income taxes. A working knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion and OneSource will be a plus. This individual is accountable for developing and managing to an annual budget. This individual must demonstrate strong leadership skills and working collaboratively with other functions within finance and with other business units in the company.


BS/BA degree. A masters in tax or law degree is preferred. 15+ years of experience -- Prior experience leading a tax department is required. Public accounting experience is a plus.
