State Income, Franchise & Gross Receipts Tax
  • Review State Income/Franchise tax returns prepared by external service provider
  • Review State work papers prepared by Senior Tax Analyst
  • Review extensions and quarterly estimated tax payment calculations and manage EFT payment process
  • Review apportionment projections prepared by Senior Tax Analyst
  • Review year end state income tax projection for use in year-end tax provision and assist in other state related aspects of tax provision as needed.
  • Manage various state tax planning projects
  • As needed assist with state income/franchise tax audits
  • Manage Franchise tax accrual and reconciliation of accounts
  • Manage the filing of Gross Receipts, Franchise and Business License Tax filings
  • Conduct research related to ongoing tax issues and law changes
  • Manage the annual review and evaluation (Nexus Study) to determine if the Company is compliant with state/local and tax registrations
Sales & Use Tax (primarily Use Tax)
  • Responsible for the filing of Monthly, Quarterly & Annual tax returns and EFT payments
  • Work with IT & AP to trouble shoot problems with SUT system accruals
  • Alert IT to tax rate changes and work to make sure system has been updated properly
  • Work with IT to modify reports as needed to prepare returns and respond to audit requests
  • Manage Sales & Use Tax account accruals
  • Manage Sales & Use Tax Audits
  • Review accounting records for refund opportunities
  • Research and respond to Vendor requests for XYZ letters
  • Organize and lead trainings to educate Gilead employees
  • Work with sourcing group to implement partial exemption tax incentive
  • Manage tax incentives & planning projects (CAETFA & Partial Exemption)
Property Tax
  • Coordinate the property tax return preparation with external service provider
  • Review information schedules for real and personal property tax returns prepared by Senior Tax Analyst
  • Manage payment of property taxes
  • Manage Property tax accrual and reconciliation of accounts


  • 8 to 11 Years of experience in Accounting Firm and/or Corporate Industry
  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MS Degree in Tax or CPA preferred
  • Technical Skills – sales & use tax, state income taxes, property tax
  • Computer Skills - Oracle, Microsoft Suite, RIA
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented and ability to adapt at working on multiple tasks with strict deadlines
  • Ability to work in team environment & be an effective people manager
  • Ability to interact effectively with outside service providers and non-tax business partners to gather information and convey tax matters
