The Indirect Tax Manager will support the Expedia tax team by managing domestic special projects, including advising the Expedia brands on tax impacts of proposed business initiatives and supporting corporate transactions and acquisitions. The Indirect Tax Manager will manage indirect tax special projects, including supporting financial reporting positions and internal research and analysis on a variety of complex state and local indirect tax issues in areas of tax law that may be novel and not well defined.

Required Job Responsibilities/Competencies:

  • Perform legal research and analysis on a variety of state and local indirect tax issues and draft memoranda and other written materials
  • Assist with analyzing business programs and advising on tax impacts and mitigation strategies
  • Assisting with management of indirect tax financial reserves and quarter-end processes
  • Assisting with managing large scale tax projects involving business process/technology changes resulting in tax efficiencies and representing tax on cross-functional project teams
  • Participate in the development and management of a team of tax professionals
  • Work effectively with outside service providers
  • Possess a strong desire to learn and a natural intellectual curiosity
  • Have a collaborative and collegial professional demeanor
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be attentive to detail while also understanding the larger issues and broader implications of projects

Relevant Qualifications and Experience:

  • BA/BS Degree in accounting or finance-related field required
  • JD or Masters of Accounting (Tax) strongly preferred
  • CPA or licensed attorney
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting and/or law firm
  • Strong knowledge of general state tax laws and concepts
  • Demonstrated experience with computer based tax research and Microsoft office, including Excel
