Job Overview:

Responsible for the review, filing and paying of corporate federal, state and local income taxes. Work to minimize corporate tax liability through sound application of tax laws and regulations.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the review of federal, state and local tax returns and related reports to ensure company compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Work to minimize tax liability through sound and informed application of tax laws and regulations permitting alternative treatment of taxable items.
  • Drive constant improvement and identify efficiency opportunities; Establish new procedures and processes in the department.
  • Keep current on new tax legislation and court decisions to determine effect on the company.
  • Work with the Property Accounting Group and outside advisors to ensure that all fixed asset reporting, including depreciation, gains/losses and AMT, and asset location are computed and included properly on all returns.
  • Work as a liaison to other departments on new projects and initiatives requiring tax planning or tax research as it relates to tax compliance impacts.
  • Strong technical skills as it relates to book vs tax calculations with a focus on accuracy of deferred taxes.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field with CPA license or advanced degree required.
  • Previous extensive tax experience required preferably with Parent Company.
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to prepare researched documentation to substantiate a position and present it in an appropriate manner to outside audit personnel.
  • Possess ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results.
  • General knowledge of EDP applications and computer capabilities. Must have prior experience with personal computer spreadsheet, database, and document preparation applications.
