Overview

From TEI’s founding in 1944, continuing education has been a hallmark of the business tax group. Originally organized so a group of tax professionals could meet regularly and discuss corporate tax matters among themselves, TEI now sponsors more than 600 programs every year at chapter, regional, and Institute levels.

Whether it’s a chapter’s State & Local Tax Day featuring several state tax commissioners; a regional conference that attracts top-notch federal, international, and management experts; or the Institute’s week-long International Tax Course, which intensively reviews both the fundamentals and emerging trends in a campus-like setting, TEI’s programs are known for their rigor, quality, and dollar value. Locally or trans-nationally, TEI is able—meeting after meeting—to secure the participation of senior government officials and the leading experts in a broad array of areas. Perhaps more important, TEI members can draw upon the expertise of their colleagues at other companies who openly share their insights and experiences.

TEI programs are also cost-effective: Fees for continuing education programs are generally lower than those charged for comparable programs by other organizations. For example, the annual two-day IRS Audits and Appeals Seminar has been a mainstay of TEI’s curriculum for two decades. Routinely attracting more than 150 people (some of whom return year after year), the seminar carries a fee that is half, a third, or even less than that charged by for-profit groups.

Concerned about travel expenses? Because most of these events are planned or hosted by TEI’s local chapters, it’s possible to fulfill your continuing education needs without incurring undue travel costs. Just one example is the President’s Seminar sponsored annually by the Minnesota Chapter; this multi-day conference attracts more than 300 members and staff every year. TEI also has periodic telephone seminars that provide timely content at very low cost. Members need not leave their office to participate.
